In the world of wedding planning, every once in a while, you come across a couple that leaves an indelible mark on your heart. For me, that was Caroline and Matthew. With their shared background in fashion, they brought a unique style and vision to their wedding day, blending vintage charm with modern aesthetics at the stunning Santee Farm in Woodford, VA.
Caroline and Matthew first met at a fashion event, instantly connected over our shared love for design (hello, dream clients!). As we started the planning process, it was clear this couple wanted their wedding to be personal, fun, and above all, a reflection of their journey together.
The venue was a personal choice – Caroline’s parents’ property in Fredericksburg, VA. Nestled among horse farms, the setting was idyllic, rural, and deeply meaningful to the couple. We decided on a beautiful sailcloth tent for the reception, where we mixed vintage and modern elements – think vintage furniture and brass candlesticks meeting lucite chairs and bold typography.
The week leading up to the wedding was a whirlwind, but it allowed me to really get to know the family and the land. It was such a joy to watch everything come together and to see the couple’s vision come to life.
Caroline’s sister lent her artistic talents to create custom stationery featuring illustrations of the family home and horses, adding a truly personal touch to the event.
Their ceremony was SO special. Caroline’s dad had to step in the day before the wedding as the unplanned officiant due to a COVID illness. Not only did he write a beautiful ceremony, but he also invited each of the parents to stand up and say a few words on marriage and love to the couple. There was not a dry-eye in the house!
And who can forget Colonel Castle’s surprise performance? He collaborated with the band to sing “Sweet Caroline” to his daughter, a moment that still brings a tear to my eye.
The greatest reward, though, was the feedback from Caroline and Matthew. Hearing them express their gratitude for our hard work and seeing the joy on their faces was priceless. Caroline said, “Your team was everything I hoped for. Your organizational skills, communication, and vision are exceptional. We had the best day ever, thanks to you.”
In the end, it was a spectacular day filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of style. As the fireworks lit up the night sky, marking the end of a truly unforgettable celebration, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for being part of such a beautiful journey.
So here’s to Caroline and Matthew, who started their forever in the most stylish way possible. May your journey be as beautiful and unique as your wedding day. And thank you, once again, for bringing us along for the ride.
A HUGE shout-out to our vendor team:
I design elevated, ultra-personal celebrations for couples who want every detail to be perfect—without ever having to micromanage a thing.
I firmly believe that knowledge is power. Answer a few questions about the wedding you want, and I’ll explain what you’ll realistically need to budget per guest (and break down where that money’s likely to go).
