Intimate Elegance: Ashley + Erik’s Fall Micro-Wedding

Big love is not always exemplified with a big party. In fact, there is something so special about an intimate, totally customized day with just the couple and their best people. Micro-weddings are not new; they became quite popular during the pandemic, when larger celebrations were not possible. However, they are still an excellent option for couples who value quality over quantity and want to create a truly meaningful experience for each guest.

Ashley and Erik opted for a micro-wedding this past fall, with 20 of their closest friends and family. They rented out The George of Old Town as their home base and reception venue, had a stunning DC memorial ceremony, and spent the evening surrounded by love, friends, and great food.

Our day started in the rich historical tapestry of Old Town, Alexandria, within the walls of The George of Old Town, the historic home of George Washington located just steps from King Street. We set up getting ready suites for each of them and their honor attendants, brought in a wonderful beauty team and an incredible photographer to capture detail shots, and closed off the downstairs living rooms to allow for a dramatic reception flip.

After a relaxed morning of pampering, Erik and Ashley headed toward the DC War Memorial for their beautiful ceremony, officiated by Ashley’s brother. Complete with ground floral arrangements and an electric violinist, their beautiful “I-do’s” went just as perfectly as they could.

After their ceremony ended, they headed back to Alexandria where they were greeted back at the Airbnb by a beautiful charcuterie board, drink stations, and some cute custom details.

When the couple joined guests back at the Airbnb, we unveiled their dining room, transformed from a drab living room to a perfect intimate wedding venue. The couple had chosen quite a few unique elements for their reception room, including a customized mantlepiece, favors with their favorite late-night treats, and customized menus for each person.

After a stunning outfit change by the bride, fitting right in to her chosen venue, the night continued with delicious food and heartfelt speeches from family and friends. As the sun set outside, candles were lit on each table creating a warm and intimate atmosphere. The couple shared their first dance as husband and wife and each danced with their parents.

The night ended with a sweet cake cutting, and a beautiful s’mores bar around a firepit outside. Most guests stayed onsite at the Airbnb; a huge perk of a micro-wedding that can’t be matched.

Ashley and Erik’s wedding wasn’t just an event; it was a testament to the beauty of keeping things small, personal, and utterly meaningful. We were extremely honored to play a part in their journey, and wish them nothing but the most amazing success in their beautiful marriage!
